 Follow up to Handbook of American Popular Culture. Four volume set includes long detailed articles detailing the scholarly study of popular culture including extensive bibliographies.

 

An official publication of the International Communication Association since 1977, this annual offers original essays and review of the literature articles reflecting conceptual developments across the discipline. Editors vary year to year.

Though there are some excellent encyclopedias in folklore that cover specific geography or genres, there is none that covers the field as a whole. This one includes essays on various approaches to the discipline as well as major topics.

Encyclopedia length essays on the main concepts used by contemporary folklorists.

Long essays on places and people that have played a significant role. Most with topical bibliographies.

Each article begins with a bibliography on a major topic and the essays themselves describe the state of research.

Published in 1901-1906, it is still of value to researchers in Judaic Studies.  The online text is searchable, a big advantage over the printed version, which was never indexed.

The two-volume set includes comparable data for all countries of the globe, but contains less text than the regional volumes (Africa South of the Sahara, Middle East and North Africa, Far East and Australasia, South America, Central America and the Caribbean, The USA and Canada)Europa publishes and lacks some directory information. In terms of statistical data, however, it is virtually identical.

A good basic reference source for Crimnology, including Biographical articles, topical articles from across criminology, some charts, tables, etc. A good starting point, and a good source for background information. 

Longer articles on broad topics in Criminology by leaders in the field. Each article discusses the issues and debates on the topic, and includes bibliographic references.
